March 11 is World Plumbing Day being established by the World Plumbing Council (WPC) in 2010. The marking of the day promotes the connection between good plumbing sanitation and human and environmental health. There are now hundreds of annual World Plumbing Day events, promoting the link between good plumbing sanitation and human and environmental health.
March 11 is often commemorated by global celebrations, competitions, seminars, and activities in the plumbing world. World Plumbing Day is also an opportunity for plumbing professionals and others to join forces to learn, share knowledge, build connections, and find opportunities to work together to improve the quality of, and access to, fresh water and safe sanitation.
According to the World Health Organization:
829,000 people are estimated to die each year because of unsafe drinking-water
By 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas
785 million people lack even a basic drinking-water service, including 144 million people who are dependent on surface water
As March 11 approaches, here are a few simple ways to show your support for the plumbers across the world:
Tweet a thank you to your favourite plumber with #worldplumbingday or post a thank you on Instagram
Host a special event for your customers or community
Fundraise or donate to a relevant charity
